Join us on Saturday, January 15, 2026 at 7.30pm at the Salle Vaninste (Salvan's multi-purpose hall) for the play American Princess.
Play of the moment: A funny, unlikely biopic of the American heartland!
Pitch
Born in 1970 in Portland, USA, Tonya Harding achieves the first triple axel in the history of American skating. Skating is her life. In the Harding household, we don’t read books, but we often say “fuck”.
In 1994, six weeks before the Lillehammer Olympic Games, her husband and his entourage were accused of using a truncheon to strike the knees of her beautiful and “fucking” rival, Nancy Kerrigan, a nice girl… Tonya tells the FBI she knew nothing about it. False testimony. The federation fires her and cancels her titles. Since then, she’s been the face of evil for all of righteous America. A bittersweet chronicle of the ’80s through to the present day, American Princess is a funny, improbable biopic of deepest America and its “star system”, where badly hung stars end up in oblivion. Right behind the sets.
Founded in 2012 by Stéphane Albelda, Compagnie Hussard de Minuit stands out for its multidisciplinary approach, blending text, image, musical composition and acting. In American Princess, the six performers – Élise Agati, Erih Ahmetaj, Louane Flütsch, Coralie Garcia, Loïc Vouillamoz and Jacques Métrailler – each embody several characters. Their demanding, captivating performances draw the audience into a fluid narrative, as if they were watching a film. This is Stéphane Albelda’s signature style!
