Via Francigena Road to Rome 2021

“Via Francigena. Road to Rome 2021. Start again!” celebrates the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the AEVF, which took place on 7 April 2001 in Fidenza (Parma), and the 27th anniversary of the recognition of the Via Francigena as a “Cultural Route of the Council of Europe”, which took place in 1994.

It is intended to be a great moment of celebration, a long relay march, to be covered on foot and by bike, along the 3,200 km of the Via Francigena. The pilgrim’s staff will take the place of the Olympic flame and will be carried, stage by stage, along the route.

The walk, which the AEVF is organising with its network of partners and friends, is aimed at all those who love the route and who live and work there. It will start on 16 June 2021 from Canterbury, “km zero” of the Francigena, to arrive in Rome on 10 September 2021 and, on 18 October 2021, in Santa Maria di Leuca, our Finis terrae.
