Watercolor is not a destination: it’s a journey

On January 12, 2022, at the Centre de Loisirs et de Culture de Martigny – now the Epicentre – an artistic adventure of discovery and sharing began. In a room bathed in natural light, a small group is introduced to watercolour painting under the guidance of Pierre-Alain Corthay. The master’s first words set the tone: tame water and color, be patient, listen and let go.

Over the course of three workshops comprising six modules, participants explore different techniques, observe nature with fresh eyes and discover the richness of an art based on spontaneity and emotion. This approach culminates in a first joint exhibition at Fully’s Méphisto in 2023, crowned with encouraging success.

Since then, each artist has found his or her own pictorial language and freedom in color and form. Together, these amateur artists continue to meet every Sunday morning, sharing their passion for watercolour and their desire to create.

This exhibition, presented at Epicentre, Rue des Vorziers 2, Martigny, is an invitation to discover this inner journey, full of nuance and transparency.
