The MAFF, Valais' new short film festival - rendez-vous on January 25 from 11:00 to 13:30 at the Cinéma Casino.
A group of film enthusiasts from the Valais region, keen to break away from conventional, predictable scenarios, have come up with MAFF – an original festival of short films, conceived and produced in the Valais.
It’s no longer a secret: the Valais has established itself as a veritable filming ground, offering a limitless playground for Swiss and foreign productions alike.
Less well known, however, is the abundance of local talent, driven by a taste for offbeat humor and improbable scenarios. From their singular paths and encounters came the desire to create a common, bold and unifying showcase.
After the NIFFF in Neuchâtel, the GIFF in Geneva, the FIFF in Fribourg and the VIFFF in Vevey, the Valais now joins the long list of Swiss film festivals, with its own signature, imagined and shaped by local creators.
MAFF presents a selection of 14 short films “made in Valais”: exclusive premieres, national and international award-winning works, and auteur favorites.
It’s also intended to be a moment of light-hearted exchange between audiences and filmmakers, be they established, amateur or simply curious. The event, held in the middle of winter, is an invitation to soften the cold and make Blue Monday a little brighter.
