The Foundation for the development and promotion of patois (Fondation du Patois) was created in 2011 by the State of Valais and Cantonal Valaisan Federation of the Friends of Patois.
This foundation follows up and continues the activities of the Conseil du patois (Patois Council) introduced in 2008 by the State Council. It develops a concept and a plan of action to enhance the heritage which forms the Franco-Provençal in Valais. Its missions are to contribute to the knowledge and maintenance of the practice of patois as well as its standing in Valais and beyond the cantonal borders.
In this respect, the Patois Foundation supports the development of the franco-provençal language and culture, favouring learning and practice by working at the setting up and the enrichment of the literature concerning them.
