The Ravoire Communal Ovens Walk

Walk, explore, share

High above Martigny, Ravoire harbours a unique treasure: a remarkable collection of seven communal ovens, making this village one of the places with the highest concentration of such ovens in Valais, if not in the whole of Switzerland.

Let Carine, a mountain guide, lead you through the hamlets and take you back in time. Behind each oven lie stories of sharing, solidarity and traditions, from a time when the whole neighbourhood would gather to bake bread over a wood fire.

This walk combines heritage, nature and local anecdotes. Amidst narrow streets, meadows, forests and panoramic views of the Rhône Valley and the surrounding mountains, discover the village in a new light and be surprised by a heritage that is as unassuming as it is fascinating.

A friendly walk, accessible to all, where every stop tells a piece of Ravoire’s history.
