The City of Martigny is launching FriActiv across its area. This free app encourages physical activity whilst promoting the exploration of local heritage, nature and public spaces. Accessible to everyone, it offers themed routes featuring exercises suited to different fitness levels and encourages residents to get active in a fun and independent way.
Developed as part of the cantonal action programmes and supported by Health Promotion Switzerland, FriActiv aims to promote regular physical activity among the general public. Using GPS-marked routes, users are guided through various points of interest where exercise suggestions and informative content enhance the experience.
By joining the Swiss municipalities already involved in this initiative, Martigny is further affirming its commitment to the health and quality of life of its population. Already offering free activities such as Streetworkout, TrailZone and Urban Training, the municipality is now expanding its offering with the launch of the FriActiv app, thereby reinforcing its commitment to an active lifestyle accessible to all.
In practical terms, the Martigny route, a 3.8-kilometre loop, connects the Central Square, La Bâtiaz Castle and the banks of the Dranse. Allow around an hour for the fittest and up to two hours for those wishing to take a more leisurely pace. Beyond the physical activity, this route also offers the chance to (re)discover the local heritage, the surrounding countryside and the town’s public spaces. Make the most of it!
