A circuitous route to the summit of Mont de l’Arpille
With Fiona Burns, geologist and mountain guide
From the village of Ravoire we cross a forest of spruce and larch trees decorated in autumn colours to get to the top of Mont de l’Arpille. We can admire the spectacular panorama over the Rhone valley, the Alps and the Mont Blanc range.
It’s a journey to discover the origin of rocks and Alpine scenery: in merely a few hours we pass through hundreds of millions of years of the Earth’s history and find 300 million year old rocks at our feet.
A splendid autumn walk with maybe the season’s first snow!
