Emosson Dam

With its 225 million cubic metres of water, Lake Emosson is Switzerland's second largest artificial reservoir!

The Emosson Dam, built between 1969 and 1973, is the centrepiece of a major hydroelectric complex straddling the border between Switzerland and France at the Col de la Gueulaz. Two hydroelectric power stations supply nearly 3% of the electricity produced in Switzerland. The dizzying height of the 180-metre wall guarantees thrills and spills.
