In this lively, piquant comedy, a family’s quiet day-to-day life is turned upside down when a challenge from their daughter requires them to go a whole day without telling a lie. This seemingly harmless game soon reveals that ordinary lies, the ones that sweeten everyday life, actually cement many a family’s equilibrium.
It’s not the big secrets that come out, but the little hidden truths, the ones we’d rather keep quiet. When they come out, they provoke discomfort, misunderstandings and laughter. Because sincerity, when it becomes total, can quickly turn absurd and expose ordinary hypocrisies.
Between embarrassing confessions, stinging truths and situations both funny and familiar, the play draws its audience into a game of mirrors in which everyone can recognize themselves. In 100 minutes of explosive frankness, the laughter comes, sometimes bursting out, sometimes grating, leaving a universal question hanging in the air: can we really live without lies?
