A lively ensemble blending jazz and klezmer (Eastern European Jewish music), PKB brings Balkan rhythms to life and turns every concert into an unbridled, joyful and irresistibly danceable celebration.
Born on 16 October 2016 at 2.13 am — Swiss time, with typical Swiss precision — the PKB emerges from the waters of Lake Geneva every summer to shake up the country with its decidedly unconventional sounds.
Jazz and klezmer jostle for space, swing takes the measure of the Balkan groove, the accordion flirts dangerously with the trombone, and somewhere amidst the joyful din, a trumpet and a clarinet settle their scores. This wild bunch of ten don’t play tame music. They rouse the crowds, throw clocks off kilter, and invariably transform even the most hushed venue into a gypsy crossroads from which you leave with a spring in your step and your mind elsewhere.
With two albums to their name — including the gold-certified “Un Coup à La Cave” (in the charts of the Independent Republic of La Pichette Libre), which has sold several hundred thousand copies, and “Souper de Soutien pour une Trompette à Palettes”, blending original compositions and covers in a pure Balkan style. And that’s not all: a third album is in the works, due for release in 2026.
