This Argentine orchestra, led by saxophonist Gustavo Firmenich, blends its musical roots, collective energy and educational jazz with international influences.
The Orquesta de Monte has established itself as an iconic ensemble born out of the musical pedagogy of “learning music by playing it”, driven by collaborative work between students and experienced musicians. Under the baton of the charismatic and highly acclaimed Gustavo Firmenich, a leading figure on Argentina’s jazz and educational scene, the orchestra has developed a strong identity that blends artistic rigour, the passing on of knowledge, and the energy of the group.
Regularly active in rehearsals and individual saxophone and clarinet lessons, the ensemble is part of a vast network of groups (Sotavento Big Band, Barlovento Orquesta, El Noneto Jazz Band), reinforcing a continuous and formative musical dynamic.
Following a notable first international experience, notably on the stage of the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Orquesta de Monte continues to develop with a second European and South American tour announced (Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay), confirming its growing influence.
True to its spirit of sharing, the group continues to work intensively, including in a virtual format, whilst preparing a renewed repertoire for its upcoming international performances.
A collective adventure where music becomes at once learning, commitment and a journey.
