A four-part series

In the conventional world of bears, friendship with a mouse is frowned upon. Yet Ernest, a solitary bear, clown and musician, takes in Célestine, a little orphan who has fled the underground world of rodents. Together, these two isolated beings support and comfort one another, and turn the established order on its head. Daniel Pennac, author of L’Oeil du Loup, Kamo, Comme un roman, Chagrin d’école and the Malaussène Saga, tells the story of this friendship that triumphs over all prejudice.Hélène Cattin : jeu et mise en scène

Who is Daniel Pennac?

Daniel Pennacchioni is the fourth and youngest son of a family with roots in Corsica and Provence. His father was an officer in the colonial army, rising to the rank of general by the end of his career, whilst his mother, a housewife, was a self-taught reader. He spent his childhood moving from one of his father’s garrisons to another, in Africa, South-East Asia and France. It was his father, a poetry enthusiast, who quickly instilled in him a love of books, which he devoured in the family library or at school
