Fondation Louis Moret: Vincent Fournier “Porte du Ciel” [EN]

Discover the works of Vincent Fournier from May 31 to July 20 at the Fondation Louis Moret.

“The axes of symmetry and the construction lines of an academic drawing mark the beginning of creation. Within this space, with its light outlines, the artist’s thought unfolds and their intuition takes shape, interacting with the receptivity of the paper.

Vincent Fournier’s work begins this way, in an almost traditional manner.

His art is born in the interstice between thought and instinct, between word and flesh: before it can take shape, it needs to be reflected upon. It is a long process, with a dual temporality. The acuity of the first gesture is tempered by the meditation on its development. This can last several months, even several years, and sometimes just the span of a breath. In these moments of grace, close to the completion of the work, the painter’s gestures align fluidly and trace stripped-down forms from a corner of burned paper, the fold of a crumpled sheet, or a persistent brown stain, stubborn as the trace of an old wound. The finished work breathes and is once again devoted to contemplation. […]”
