La Bataille d’Octodure vue par les enfants [English]

Visit the exhibition "The Battle of Octodure as seen by children", running from May 4 to November 31, 2024!

The Association Jeunes Archéologues is pleased to invite you to the exhibition “La Bataille d’Octodure vue par les enfants”, which will run from May 4 to November 31, 2024 at the Maison des Jeunes Archéologues in Martigny.

The exhibition revisits Book III of the Gallic Wars. Exploring the life and tumult of the Battle of Octodure in 57 BC through the eyes of children of the time, we use illustrations by local artists, replicas of period objects, such as Roman Republican and Celtic weaponry.

How did the children experience the upheaval caused by the arrival of the Roman legions?

What were the repercussions of this conflict for families?

To shed light on this period of local history and approach the Gallic War from a new perspective. It also serves as a starting point for a debate on children’s perception of the concept of war, from antiquity to the present day.

This exhibition will welcome historians, archaeologists, storytellers, musicians and historical recreation associations, for a lively and entertaining history throughout the year. (Wednesdays and several Saturdays)

Opening times:

Every Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
