Terraced Vineyard Trail

Follow the trail and admire Matrigny's terraced vineyards The panoramic view from the top of the Bâtiaz tower enables you to take the perfect selfie!

This walk emables you to discover some of the city’s treasures such as the La Bâtiaz covered bridge, the Martigny and Martigny-Combe vineyards, Bâtiaz Castle, the magnificent hamlet of Plan-Cerisier and a rural section along the Dranse.
Cultivated in terraces, the vines are superimposed, each one clinging to the one above. The steep slopes and the excellent climate provide conditions conducive to the high quality of grapes. In 1812, the best Valais wine was reported to come from Martigny’s hill-sides.
