This cultural centre, situated at the heart of a vast sculpture park, receives internationally famous exhibitions and concerts throughout the year.
Since 1978, the Pierre Gianadda Foundation has become a leading museum in Switzerland and Europe, hosting major temporary exhibitions. Over 10 million visitors have already admired works from private collections and major museums around the world, notably during exhibitions featuring Van Gogh, Picasso, Klee, Goya, Rodin, Giacometti, Schiele, Lautrec, Chagall and Modigliani, amongst others. The Foundation also features a Gallo-Roman archaeological museum, a motor museum, a renowned music season, a gallery showcasing Swiss masterpieces as well as works by the artist Sam Szafran, and one of the most beautiful sculpture parks in Europe (according to the Gazette Drouot). In addition, the Vieil Arsenal, situated in the Foundation’s gardens, hosts various exhibitions, such as ‘Leonardo da Vinci, the Inventor’ or ‘Leonardo Gianadda, Photojournalist’.
Fancy a bite to eat? ‘Le Patio’ (self-service) offers a varied, locally sourced menu every day
The aim of the Pierre Gianadda Foundation is simple: to combine the memory of a brother who passed away too soon with the desire to promote the city’s history and bring temporary cultural events to the area.
Temporary exhibition: The Pierre Gianadda Foundation is currently hosting the temporary exhibition ‘From Manet to Kelly: The Art of the Print’, which will run until 14 June 2026. The 178 masterpieces of 19th-, 20th- and 21st-century printmaking featured in this exhibition come from the library of the Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA, Paris). This is an exceptional collection of modern and contemporary prints that reveals the immense creativity of artists in the field of printmaking. A fresh perspective on the unique nature of this INHA collection, which was started in the early 20th century by an art lover and patron, the fashion designer Jacques Doucet. The exhibition is organised into nine thematic sections that bring together different eras, styles and sensibilities.
