After TWA Trans Worlds in 2019 and a collaboration with curator Benoît Antille, a new carte blanche has been given, this time to Eléonore Varone.
It has invited the Lausanne artist Simon Deppierraz for an exhibition entitled Vertige.
She explains it in these terms: “The place resonates so strongly that it seems necessary to me to surround myself with someone whose artistic practice questions the space in a situated way. (…) His work captivates me as much for the dialogue he proposes with the spaces as for the themes he makes resonate in me. It is not by the monumental that he responds to the monumental, but rather by the finesse of a look that he diverts, that he destabilizes or that he decides to lead somewhere. His attention to detail brings together heaviness and lightness, danger and security, balance and gravity.
Simon Deppierraz (*1984) lives and works in Lausanne. Since 2006, numerous solo exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad have marked his artistic career.
Eléonore Varone (*1987) is an independent curator and since September 2021 responsible for the exhibitions of the Bex&Arts Foundation.
