Photographic exhibition to raise awareness of the challenges facing mountain regions
During his residency in Sierre, the Moroccan artist Hosein Jaddad became interested in the theme of agriculture and its impact on the environment by researching the audiovisual archives of the Médiathèque Valais – Martigny to better understand the evolution of agricultural techniques.
Then, attending the grape harvest in the vineyards of the Valais, the photographer got a deeper look at the vineyard landscapes and the way they are worked, between monoculture and permaculture.
In a quasi-documentary approach, Hosein Jaddad meets several winegrowers in order to understand the problems that farmers face.
Through his pictures, the artist chooses to show the biodiversity surrounding the vineyards, a biodiversity that must (re)find its place in a mainly wine-producing Valais territory.
