Galerie Oblique – Exhibition Céline Salamin

The subjects of her works, Céline finds them in her daily life: citrus fruits, tubers and other fruits and vegetables; egg shells; flowers from the garden and surroundings. She takes them out of their familiar context, brings them into her studio, puts them in the light and begins her painting work by observing them. By mixing her two worlds, Céline creates compositions like classical still lifes; except that here, any hierarchical relationship between the elements is forgotten. A lemon that has waited too long becomes the subject of a painting, just like the fried eggs from Sunday brunch: the prosaic is painted, framed and exposed! Image: © Jordan Espagne
