The Fondation P. Gianadda is pleased to invite you to a concert by the Concert des Nations, conducted by Jordi Savall, on Sunday April 28, 2024 at 5:00 pm.

The orchestra Le Concert des Nations was created by Jordi Savall and Montserrat Figueras in 1989 during the preparation of M.A. Charpentier’s Canticum Beatae Virgine project, to provide a period-instrument ensemble capable of performing a repertoire ranging from the Baroque to Romanticism (1600-1850). Its name derives from François Couperin’s Les Nations, a concept that represents the union of musical tastes and the premonition that Art in Europe would forever have its own hallmark, that of the Age of Enlightenment.

Conducted from the outset by Jordi Savall, Le Concert des Nations was the first orchestra to feature a majority of musicians from Latin countries (Spain, Latin America, France, Italy, Portugal, etc.), leading international specialists in the interpretation of early music on original period instruments and according to historical criteria.

The impact of its chosen works and composers, its recordings and performances in major cities and music festivals around the world have made it one of the world’s leading period-instrument orchestras, capable of interpreting an eclectic and diverse repertoire ranging from early orchestral music to masterpieces of Romanticism and Classicism.
